Since the start of the latest war in the Middle East at the end of March, Lego-style propaganda movies have become very popular (as you would have guessed, they are not associated with the danish brand of plastic construction toys). These are opinionated short clips distributed on social media reacting often to the latest developments be they political or on the battlefield within hours.
The Iranians were the first to release these admittedly very well made (irrespective of your allegiance in the conflict) clips. The BBC had the opportunity to talk to a representative of Explosive Media, a small Iranian outfit producing them on behalf of the Iranian government. But now, and in particular since Pakistan started mediating between the United States and Iran, the Chinese have come up their own creations. Who knows, other nations may yet get involved (producing videos rather than joining the war).
Whatever your opinion on the conflict, the clips are catchy and thoroughly entertaining. Maybe there should be a new category for them at next year’s film awards such as the Golden Globes, the Oscars or the BAFTAs.
